I have to keep this article brief today.
I'll explain why shortly.
First, let me get to some good news and not-so-good news.
The good news is we took another step forward in the right direction with the "big something" I initially hinted at a few weeks ago.
Again, I don't want to reveal anything yet.
I'm a little superstitious. A little bit. And I don't want anything to jinx the "big something."
More good news: my last day of work before the summer vacation is the day after tomorrow.
This summer will be my 13th summer vacation, and having summers off never gets old. Ever.
The not-so-good news is I do not have any concrete travel plans for this summer which is a first for me.
The reason is that I need to be in town to deal with the final steps for the "big something."
Believe me when I say that not having any travel plans because of the "big something" is well worth it.
And, some more not-so-good news is that I haven't been feeling well the past few days, hence why I need to keep this article short today.
I woke up on Saturday feeling out of sorts. Sunday, I was in bed until almost 2:00 pm.
I can't remember a day I slept past 8:00 am in decades.
I am recovering but still feeling out of sorts.
I want to end by saying that summer is finally here.
It is the perfect time to invest in a life experience:
Get off-grid
Indulge in a mini-retirement
Take a cross-country road trip
If you have some paid time off and a dream destination, I encourage you to do what you can to travel there and experience it.
June 30th is the 8th anniversary of my first solo, cross-country road trip from New York City to Montana.
I loved the experience of that road trip so much that my annual non-negotiable is a road trip from New York City to Wyoming (yes, I will be taking that road trip sometime this summer).
That one road trip eight years ago really changed my mindset about travel, life experiences, and the beauty of this world.
Two years later, I took my first mini-retirement.
Three years after that, I started camping off-grid regularly.
Do yourself a favor and plan a trip somewhere you've never been.
The longer you can stay in that location, the better.
Life's entirely too short.
What caught my attention:
“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.”
—St. Augustine
