It's been a busy few weeks for me.

And with summer quickly approaching, it promises to get busier.

I do have something big coming up that I won't jinx by mentioning it now.

But, once it's all said and done, I promise to reveal that "big something."

As such, my summer travel plans are on hold because I don't know when I'll have the time (or how much time I'll have) to go through my usual summer travel routine.

At least with the new camper, I can get off-grid more often and enjoy more time in nature when time allows.

Now, I did mention summer is quickly approaching.

The official first day of summer for 2024 is June 20.

And, summer is an excellent time of year to travel.

A beach is one of my favorite destinations to travel to during the summer.

I don't care where the beach is located as long as there are only a few people and I can enjoy a cocktail that I can drink from a coconut with one of those little umbrellas.

As cliche as that cocktail sounds, it sets the tone for the rest of the day (and the rest of the vacation).

And, the earlier in the day I can enjoy that cocktail, the better (along with a shot of tequila).

The truth is, it's been a while since I've had a proper beach vacation.

Depending on how everything falls into place this summer, I may have to hit a beach destination instead of what I typically do during the summer.

So, if you're still trying to decide on your summer travel plans, allow me to provide a few beach suggestions (that I may take advantage of as well).

I've spent hundreds of hours on different beaches in different countries.

Of all the beaches I've been to, here are 7 of my favorite:

Turks & Caicos

Turks & Caicos

I spent 2 weeks in Turks & Caicos in the early 2000s.

Most of that time on its beautiful beaches.

Paamul, Mexico

Paamul, Mexico

Paamul was the first destination my significant other and I traveled to together.

You can find this beauty just south of Playa del Carmen.

Canet de Mar

Canet de Mar, Spain

A local recommended this beach to us while we were on a mini-retirement in Barcelona.

He recommended it as an alternative to Barcelona's crowded beaches.

We had the beach to ourselves the entire day.

You can find this town (and beach) about an hour north of Barcelona.

The Algarve

The Algarve, Portugal

We spent a day on this beach while traveling through Portugal.

While it was a bit crowded, it was definitely a relaxing experience.

Pro-tip: enjoy the locally brewed Piri-Piri beer while enjoying your time on this beach.

Santa Teresa

Santa Teresa, Costa Rica

You can find this beach on the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica.

It's the (almost) perfect destination for a relaxing beach vacation.

Cabo San Lucas

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Who doesn't love Cabo San Lucas?

Hollywood Beach

Hollywood Beach, Florida

This was my go-to beach when I lived in Miami, Florida.

It's a great alternative to the crowded beaches of South Beach, Miami Beach, and Ft. Lauderdale Beach.

There you have it: 7 of my favorite beaches.

I'm the first to admit that I barely scratched the surface concerning beautiful beaches.

But, these are beaches I personally traveled to and can highly recommend.

I hope these beach suggestions are helpful as you plan your summer travels.
