Many people dream of taking a mini-retirement “someday,” but that dream is never realized.
They tell themselves:
"I'll do it when I have more money."
"I just need to wait until the timing is better."
"I need a perfect plan before I can make it happen."
But here's the truth:
Life keeps passing by. You see others living their dreams (road-tripping across the country, spending time off-grid, or backpacking through Europe) while you're stuck in the same routine.
It feels like standing on the sidelines of a game you're dying to play but convincing yourself you're not ready to get on the field.
Experiencing a mini-retirement doesn't require:
Being a millionaire
Waiting for a "someday"
Having the perfect timing
Knowing exactly what you're doing
What it does require:
Taking imperfect action
Prioritizing experiences over excuses
Trusting that you'll figure it out as you go
And the secret ingredient?
Courage.
Because almost everyone who's taken a mini-retirement (including myself) will tell you they were scared, unsure, and unprepared when they started.
The bad news is that waiting for perfect conditions means you might never go.
The good news?
You don't need perfect conditions.
You need the courage to say, "I'm going to do this," and take action.
Life is happening now.
Start small, start messy, start scared.
But start.
Because that "someday" you're waiting for?
That "someday" is not guaranteed.
P.S. This newsletter article is not about mini-retirements.
Quote that caught a lot of people’s attention:
The goal is to live a life free to explore, calm enough to savor each beautiful moment, and energized to chase every dream adventure.
