I don't have much to say as it is Christmas Eve.

If you celebrate Christmas, I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas.

I wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season if you do not.

If you are traveling, I hope you have safe travels.

But most of all, I hope you use this downtime to step back, reflect, and re-analyze your life goals.

As 2024 is winding down, reflect on where you've been and develop some goals on where you want to go and what you want to achieve in 2025 (personally and professionally).

I may travel over the holiday break, but as my car is currently in the body shop getting some work done, I may not be able to.

And while New York City is a fine place to spend the holidays, all things being equal…

I'd rather be in Vienna…

In 2023, I traveled to Vienna for my 4th mini-retirement.

I was there for 2 (of 4) weeks.

And I'd love to return to spend at least a month there for a mini-retirement.

Here are 12 reasons why you need to consider traveling to Vienna for a mini-retirement:

The Architectural Splendor

While exploring the city, you can't help but marvel at Vienna's stunning architecture.

From Baroque buildings to contemporary designs.

The Historic Palaces

Explore historic palaces such as the Hofburg, Schönbrunn, and Belvedere.

The Green Spaces

Vienna boasts numerous parks and gardens, including the famous Schönbrunn Palace Gardens, Stadtpark, and the Belvedere Gardens.

The Belvedere Gardens is free to enter and has been open to the public since 1780.

The Culinary Delights

Savor traditional Viennese cuisine, including Wiener Schnitzel and Sachertorte.

The Wine Culture

Enjoy the local wine culture, especially in the vineyards on the city's outskirts.

The Café Culture

Viennese café culture is perfect for leisurely afternoons spent reading, writing, or people-watching.

One of my favorite relaxing afternoons was spent in a Viennese café.

The Rich Cultural Heritage

Vienna is renowned for its cultural history, with numerous museums, art galleries, and historical sites.

Vienna has over 100 museums to explore.

It's the City of Music

As the City of Music, Vienna was home to legendary composers like Mozart, Beethoven, and Strauss.

A world-class concert or opera is one of the best experiences you can enjoy.

The High Quality of Life

Vienna is consistently ranked as one of the most livable cities in the world.

For 2024, it is currently ranked as the top most livable city in the world.

Its Central Location

Its central European location makes Vienna ideal for exploring other European cities and countries.

You can easily take day trips from Vienna to explore destinations such as Salzburg, Bratislava, and Budapest.

Its Affordability

Compared to other European cities, Vienna is relatively affordable.

It's an attractive option for an extended mini-retirement.

The Efficient Public Transport

Vienna's public transportation system is highly efficient, making it easy to navigate the city.

Of course, exploring the city on foot is the best option for exploring the city.

I'm barely scratching the surface of what Vienna offers as a mini-retirement destination.

Its serene and beautiful setting and rich cultural backdrop make it an ideal destination for introspection and personal growth.

Vienna's history, culture, and relaxed vibe provide an ideal destination for a transformative mini-retirement.

Quote that caught my attention:

"The hardest part is deciding. Because until you decide, most people can’t plan. As soon as you say, “I’m going to buy this ticket” — once you make that decision then all of a sudden it’s pulled out of the realm of hopeful thinking and it goes into tactical mode."
