On the First Day of Summer Vacation

This is going to be a relatively short newsletter today.
12 years ago, I decided to quit practicing law to become a New York City public high school teacher.
There were various reasons why I decided to pursue this course of action.
The primary reason is that most of my career has been in public service, and that's what's important to me.
While I am no longer in the classroom, it's still a rewarding career.
And, it doesn't hurt that I have summer offs.
Today is the first day of summer vacation for me.
While this year was challenging for me in many ways, it was also gratifying.
I leveraged my legal insight to transform my current position into one with much more autonomy.
And that's worth celebrating.
Now that it is summer vacation, it's safe to say I will enjoy every minute of this break (and I'm sure it'll go by entirely too fast).
Not only will I be traveling to Europe, but I will also try to continue to decompress by doing the one thing that helps tilt the balance of life in my favor: a cross-country road trip.
And I'll balance this vacation between business and pleasure.
As such, while I'll continue to deliver this newsletter weekly, some issues may be of "The Greatest Hits" variety.
"The Greatest Hits" newsletters are newsletters I've already published but am revisiting to make it a bit easier to manage some additional goals I have set for myself for this summer.
My first major goal is exploring the viability of starting a solo, digital law firm.
Come hell or high water, I will be retiring in 5 years.
At that point in my life, work for me will be optional.
However, I am still an attorney (I am still licensed to practice law).
And I still want to be in service to the public when I do retire.
Which is why I'm exploring starting a solo, digital law firm.
To continue to help people.
I'm also exploring whether transferring this newsletter to a different platform will benefit me (and ultimately you).
If so, everything will stay the same on your end.
I want to explore this option because I feel I am not getting the most out of this platform's features.
Finally, I may consider publishing this newsletter on a day other than Friday as Fridays may not be the very best day in deliverying this newsletter to you.
The point in exploring and pursuing these three specific goals is that all three will continue to move me forward in living the life I actually want to live.
And I’ll share my progress with you to, ultimately, inspire you to live a life you actually want to live.
I’ll keep you posted.
Until then, enjoy your day.
More importantly, enjoy your summer.
