Good morning and Happy Friday!

Welcome to another edition of The Matt Viera Newsletter.

Thank you for your continued support.

I spend a lot of my time thinking about financial freedom.

What I mean by "financial freedom" is the ability to do what I want, when I want, wherever I want without relying on a 9-5 job for a paycheck.

But lately, one question I've been asking myself is this:

How can I achieve financial freedom while living in New York City?

For a few reasons:

  • Reason #1: The cost of living in New York City is 95% higher than the national average.

  • Reason #2: New York City housing is 258% more expensive than the U.S. average.

  • Reason #3: I don't know of anyone who has achieved financial freedom while living in New York City.

To wrestle with this question, a few things I am doing are:

  • Learning more about effective personal finance management through courses and books.

  • Exploring my options to reduce my cost of living expenses and increase my income.

  • Budgeting my money (for the first time in my life).

  • Investing & saving money.

But I think it'll be a while before I come to any sort of solid conclusion.

Until then, I'll continue to write about my journey to financial freedom to share with you.

(And if you have a clear answer to this question, I'd love to hear from you).
