I'm going to keep this intro short.
The day I turned 50 was the day I realized an uncomfortable, brutal truth.
I realized, "I have more life behind me than I do in front of me."
And that realization provoked me to make some serious moves to live the life I actually want to live.
A life with complete control over my time, money, and life.
Wherever you are in life, it is never too late to start making moves.
Of course, the earlier you start, the better off you'll be.
With that, I want to share with you three brutal truths about life I wish I had learned in my 20s:
1. No one is coming to save you.
If you want freedom (financial or professional), you have the power to create it yourself.
No one will hand you the perfect circumstances, the dream job you want, or the time to pursue whatever you desire.
Most people stay stuck because they're waiting for permission, the right moment, or "someday."
The empowering truth is if you don't take control of your life, someone else will.
The sooner you accept this, the sooner you can start building the life you actually want to live.
Remember: "No one is coming to save you; no one is coming to make life right for you; no one is coming to solve your problems. If you don't do something, nothing is going to get better." —Nathaniel Branden
2. Fear is the gatekeeper to everything you want.
The best experiences, significant breakthroughs, and rewarding decisions exist on the other side of fear.
But the truth is most people let fear convince them staying where they are is safer (or more comfortable) than taking a chance on something better.
It takes courage to step into the unknown, to face the discomfort, and to take risks.
Once you do, you'll realize fear is never as powerful as you thought.
Fear is just standing between you and the life you actually want to live.
Remember: "Everything you ever wanted is sitting on the other side of fear." —George Addair
3. Your time is your most valuable asset. Spend it wisely.
Every hour you trade for money, approval, or obligations you don't believe in is an hour you'll never get back.
Most people live as if they have unlimited time only to realize way too late, they spent it on things that didn't truly matter.
Time is the one thing that can never be recovered.
Be ruthless in protecting your time because you won't regret the risks you took at the end of your life.
You'll regret the time you gave away for nothing.
Remember: "The difference between successful people and really successful people is that really successful people say 'no' to almost everything." —Warren Buffett
Quote that caught my attention:
“You may delay, but time will not.” —Benjamin Franklin
